What is DNC List Manager.com?

DNC List Manager.com is an automated web-based Do Not Call list compliance, cleaning and management system.

What does your service do?

Our service insures that you're Telephone Marketing Call Numbers/Lists are:

  • 100% FTC Compliant (for all lists uploaded properly)
  • "Scrubbed" every 31 days as the law prescribes via our custom e-mail reminder system
  • "Scrubbed" against your "in-house" call lists, National Do Not Call Registry in "real-time" and all state lists (except Louisiana)
  • "Scrubbed" individually one-at-a-time if desired

2. Getting Started

I have signed up - Now what do I do!

First, lets make sure that you have completed all necessary action items on your "Getting Started" compliance checklist:

1st - Registering with the National Do Not Call Registry - You can register with the National Do Not Call Registry by clicking on the Register with the National Do Not Call Registry link on the "Getting Started" page you are automatically directed to on log in. After registering with the National Do Not Call Registry (NDNCR) which is free of charge, you will be issued an Organization ID and Representative password. Please print that information that will be given to you by the NDNCR.

2nd - Subscribing to Area Codes - You have subscribed to the area codes that you are going to be telemarketing in by clicking on the Subscribe to Area Codes link also on the "Getting Started" page. Please follow the guided steps.
*After you have confirmed your area code subscription and have printed your order confirmation/SAN# - DO NOT follow the next step which is to "download your lists"!

3rd - Update your account information - You will now update your DNC List Manager.com account information by:

  • Log In to your DNC List Manager.com account
  • Click on the "Account Summary" link in the navy blue box in the upper left hand corner
  • Select "Edit Profile" from the light blue sub menu
  • Input your Organization ID and Representative password in the proper corresponding fields
  • Click "Save" at the bottom of the form.

NOW YOU ARE READY TO SCRUB YOUR NUMBERS!

Remember! YOU MUST BE REGISTERED WITH THE FTC IN ORDER TO SCRUB YOUR CALL LIST OR CHECK NUMBERS ONE AT A TIME!
The law states that before you can call a residence in the United States for the purpose of solicitation, you must first be registered with the National Do Not Call Registry and that you must subscribe to each area code that you will be telemarketing in.



3. "Scrubbing" Your List

You can upload your entire call lists on spreadsheets one at time or you can manually "scrub" up to 10 phone numbers one-at-a-time.

What is a Call List?

Your Call List is the list that contains the phone numbers you want to call, but first needs to be "scrubbed" against the Federal Trade Commissions do-not-call (DNC) database to remove records that match the DNC list.

What is "Scrubbing"?

The process of electronically removing "Do Not Call" numbers from your original call list.

What are "Do Not Call" or "Not OK To Call" Numbers?

Phone numbers you cannot, should not, or simply are illegal to call for the purpose of solicitation. It may be provided by the National Do Not Call Registry (NDNCR) or a state with its own DNC registry, or may be your own internal DNC list.

What is a Scrub List?

A list that has had all of its "Do Not Call" numbers electronically extracted within the past 31 days.

In what formats can I upload my file for processing?

We currently only accept files in the CSV ("Comma Separated Value") file format, which is often used to exchange data between disparate applications. The file format, as it is used in Microsoft Excel, has become a pseudo standard throughout the industry, even among non-Microsoft platforms. Most database applications have the ability to export or save in a CSV format.

What can I do if my file is in Microsoft Excel format?

Save the file as CSV comma delimited (*.csv)

  1. Open the file using Microsoft Excel.
  2. Make sure the active spreadsheet contains your data.
  3. Click on "File".
  4. Click on "Save As".
  5. Select "CSV comma delimited (*.csv)" on the "Save as type" pull-down menu.
  6. Click on "Save".
  7. Click "Yes" or "OK" to any saving prompts.
  8. Now you can submit your file for scrubbing.

Will my returned files retain all of the original fields?

Yes, your file will retain the same format as the file you submit.

In what format will I receive my scrubbed file?

Your file will be returned to you as a comma delimited text (*.csv) file in its original format.

How will I receive my processed files?

Once you've scrubbed your lists, you'll download the results at the View/Download Lists page. The results will consist of 3 different files - Records OK to Call, Records Not to Call, and Invalid Records (records with invalid phone numbers or no phone numbers at all).

How long will it take to process my file?

"Scrubbing" process time varies. Your file will usually be ready for download within one hour. However, the larger the list, the longer it will take to scrub. On average, it takes less than One Hour or so minutes to scrub 1,000,000 records.

How large of a list can DNC List Manager handle?

In theory, there is no maximum size to the lists DNC List Manager can handle. DNC List Manager is capable of scrubbing against the full National DNC list. However, the larger the list, the longer it will take to scrub.

What if I have more than one list to scrub against?

You can upload multiple Scrub Lists for each scrub task.

What if I have more than one phone number field in my Call List that I want scrubbed?

You will need to re-submit your file for each additional field you want scrubbed.

Currently, the phone numbers in my Call List have dashes in them, while my Scrub List does not. Can DNC List Manager handle phone numbers in different formats?

Yes. Behind the scenes, the scrubbing script removes any non-numbers from the phone number field before scrubbing the list. The resulting files, however, are returned to you in their original format.

Currently, some of the phone numbers in my Call List have a "1" before the area code, while my Scrub List does not. Can DNC List Manager handle phone numbers in these different formats?

Yes. Behind the scenes, the scrubbing script removes any leading 0's or 1's from the phone number field before scrubbing the list. The resulting files, however, are returned to you in their original format.

Will I be able to view statistics about my processed files?

Yes. At the View/Download Lists page you will be able to view statistics for each scrub session including:

  1. Scrub Session Name - The name you assign to your scrub session.
  2. Total Records in Call List - The number of records in your Call List.
  3. Total Records Scrubbed Against - The total number of records in your Scrub List(s).
  4. Records OK to Call - The number of records with phone numbers that did not match the list of numbers on the Scrub List
  5. Records NOT to Call - The number of records with phone numbers that did match the list of numbers on the Scrub List.
  6. Valid Records in Call List - The number of records with "Valid" 10 digit phone numbers.
  7. Invalid Records in Call List - The number of records with "Invalid" phone numbers or no phone numbers at all.
  8. Date of Scrub Session - The date the scrub session was performed.
  9. Call List File - The name of your Call List file.
  10. Scrub List File(s) - The name(s) of your Scrub List file(s).

How long will my scrubbed files by good for?

After January 1st 2005, your scrubbed files will be good for 31 days after the date of scrubbing, per Federal Trade Commission regulations. You'll need to re-scrub your file if you wish to continue calling from it.

Will I be able to register and purchase area codes with the National Do Not Call Registry?

Yes. The DNC List Manager service does allow you to register and purchase area codes at the National Do Not Call Registry as a free service once you've signed up.

If I am registered with the National Do Not Call Registry, do I need to upload the entire DNC list as a scrub file each time?

No. When you enter your National Do Not Call Registry (NDNCR) Company Organization ID and Representative Password in your Profile, accessible in your Account Summary, our service will use this information to access your NDNCR area code lists to scrub against. The area codes that you have registered for will show in Step 2 of the scrubbing wizard, where you can select the area code lists you want to scrub against.

How do I register with the National Do Not Call Registry?

Simply click on the following link www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov and follow the step by step instructions.

Why do I have to subscribe to area codes?

The Federal Trade Commission mandates that you must subscribe to each area code that you plan to telemarket in.

How do I subscribe to Area Codes?

Click on the following link www.telemarketing.donotcall.gov, log in, click on the Manage/Renew Subscriptions link and follow the step by step instructions.

5. Protecting yourself and your company

What is a "DNC Policy"?

Under federal and some state laws, consumers may request a copy of your Do Not Call policy. DNC List Manager will help you create your company�s �Do Not Call� policy.

What if I accidentally call a number on the DNC list?

A lawyer should be contacted for all legal advise. However, if DNC List Manager was properly used the telemarketer may fall under the "Safe Harbor" protection as outlined by the FTC.

The FCC fined someone over 5 million dollars for violating Do-Not-Fax laws? Does DNC List Manager work for Do-Not-Fax lists?

Yes. DNC List Manager can help you with all of your list scrubbing needs regardless if you are scrubbing phone numbers or fax numbers.
